I am researching the Anderson family from Dunbarton Scotland. John Dunn Anderson arrived at Belfast (Port Fairy)Victoria in 1856 aboard the Euphrates with his wife and four oldest children. Upons his arrival in the Warrnambool area he was engaged as a mill-wright by a Mr patterson. Machinery for the preparation of lax for rope-making was installed locally by John dunn anderson. However, permission to grow fax at Levy's Point was disallowed by the relevant authorities. At one time John dunn Anderson operated the Toll Gate on the Mortlake Road. |
