I am researching the GUNN and ANDIS/ANTES families who settled in Hancock County, Indiana, in the 1830s.

James Gunn obtained 5 land grants in Brandywine Twp, Hancock County, Indiana, in 1835. He and his family and brother William's family migrated from Pulaski and Wayne Co, KY, to Franklin County, IN, circa 1818 and bought land there in 1819. He later sold that land and purchased land in adjoining Fayette County in 1825 prior to moving to Hancock County in 1835.

Alexander Andis, grandson of the immigrant ancestor, Wilhelm ANTES/ANDESS/ANDIES/ANTOS, migrated from Washington Co, VA to Hancock County in the late 1830's. Wilhelm had settled in Frederick Co, MD, sometime after 1741 (when he arrived from Germany at port of Philadelphia aboard The Friendship). Alexander's father, John Anders/Andis, migrated to Washington Co, VA, from MD and is buried with his wife, Eleanor "Nellie" Lynch, in Washington County, near Abingdon.
