Samuel Tibbetts married
(1) by the Rev. John Pike, on 02 Sept 1686, Dorothy TUTTLE, dau.
of John TUTTLE (one of the first settlers of Dover Neck) and is wife Dorothy
(Tuttle enealogy, p. 2
(2) Rebecca (NOCK) WILLEY, dau of Thomas ans Rebecca (TIBBETTS) NOCK
and widow of William WILLEY, as early as 04 Feb 1707/8 (NH Prov. Deeds,
book 8, p. 69)
(3) Rebecca (maiden name unknown), who survived him and is named in his will.

He was deputy from Dover to the NH colonial Legislature in 1715-16-17, 1719 and
1720. He had the grant of half a sawmill priviliage in 1701; was selectman of Dover
in 1702; was a Captian in the French and Indian War; was a deacon in the church,
and had a large tannery at Dover Neck, where the old vats employed by him were
to be seenn as late as the year 1890. He was one of the whole share proprietors of
Rochester.

In his will, dated 08 Nov 1738, and proved 31 Jan 1739, Samuel Tibbetts bequeathed to his son
Ichabod (executor) all his homestead land on both sides of the way, together with
the orchards, dwelling house and barn and all other edifices and buildings standing
and being upon the said homestead land, also his tan yard and tan pits together with
all the hides and leather and tanning tools and utensiles, also his four workong cattle
or oxes, and twenty acres of land lying up at Malligo River so-called in Dover, and
eighteen acres of land to be laid out in the common or undivided lands of said
Dover; to grandson Samuel TIBBETTS (son of his deceased son Samuel) two
hundred acres of land in the townof Rochester, in his (the testator's) second
division lot in said town also one yoke of oxen to be delivered to him s soon as he
shall arrive at the age of twenty-one years; to grandson Ichabod VARNEY, all his
right and interest in the undivided lands in the said town of Rochester; to his four
daughters Rachel LEGRO, Martha WHITEHOUSE, Mary CHAMBERLAIN, and
Esther TIBBETTS, and his grandchildren Mary CORSEN, Judith and Ichabod
TIBBETTS (children of his deceased son Samuel), to Thomas TIBBETTS, son of
his daughter Sarah (deceased wife of Thomas TIBBETTS), and to John, Samuel,
Joshua and Jonathan WINGATE, children of his daughter Dorothy (deceased wife
of John WINGATE), all his household goods and movable estate within the doors
and without, to be equally divided amoung them. The inventory, dated 20 Feb
1739, showed the estate of 1727.0.4 pounds (Porbate Records of the Prov. of NH,
vol.2, p. 735)
