1. JOHANN ADAM1 KOCH was born 1707 in OTZWEILER, GERMANY, and died 1771 in Berks Co., PA. He married ANNA MARGARETHA ROHMANN 1727 in Germany, daughter of THOMAS ROHMANN. She was born 1707 in Kempfenbrunn, Germany, and died October 11, 1783 in Reading, Pa., Berks Co.
Notes for JOHANN ADAM KOCH:
It is believed that Adam's father was Peter and his grandfather was Conrad, but this has not been verified at this time. He had a brother Henrich who with his wife also named Anna Margaretha and 4 children arrived in America at Pa. Oct 9, 1749 on a ship named Lydia. It is said that the land were they lived in Otzweiler Germany was barren and that 24 families lived in this town. Just about everyone left, but it is a town of 20,000 people today. The people coming to America in the 1700's were called Rhine Pallatines and were from the Rhine area of Germany and like Johann Adam came to Pennsylvania and were called the "Pennsylvania Dutch".
