1830 Smith Co. (TN) Census: Thomas, head of household. One male ages 20-30, 1 female ages 20-30, 3 females ages 0-5.



Joyce Wilson says: "If you check the 1840 census again you will find that Thomas has 1 male under 5, 3 males 5-10, 1 male 30-39. 2 females 10-14, 1 female 15-19, 1 female 20-29. Hope that helps." On recheck, hard to tell if truly says "3" under males, or if is just a smudge.

I know of no proof positive in the public record that Samuel Hardy mas Mary Polly's father, but it seems very likely. (1)-Joel Blankenship was listed as the head of the household adjacent to Samuel's in the 1820 Allen Co.,Ky census. (2)-Joel was listed as the administrator for Samuel Hardy in the 1824 tax list for Allen Co. (3)-Joel and Mary named their oldest son Samuel.
