Notes for H
ENRY MAXWELL:
Henry Maxwell was killed near his place on the Brazos River. He came to Texas in 1842 from Arkansas and settled in Collin County Texas where he lived for 10 years and then moved to Parker County. In 1865 Maxwell and his son-in-law Joyce went out looking for stock. Maxwell was armed with a shotgun and Joyce with a rifle. They were attacked by a group of indians (which out numbered them). They attempted to move to a better position and while doing so, Maxwell was struck in the back with an arrow. This arrow proved to later be fatal. Joyce left at this point and was not pursued by the indians. Joyce returned with help and Maxwell was found to still be alive. They carried him home, but he died later that evening.
