This daughter was born when Lisa and Heinz were living in Sumatra. They believed she would have survived had she received proper medical treatment (which wasn't available in Sumatra at that time). Notes for DR. MED. BARBARA MAILÄNDER:
visited Canada in 1960 with her mother, Lisa. Barbara spent some time working in a hospital in Edmonton (as a volunteer intern?) to get medical experience here. She also visited Onkel Gotthold's relatives in North Bay.

She visited again in the summer of 2001 -- spent 10 days in Ontario with Betty Anne/Lis, flew to Alberta and spent 2 weeks with Bernie, then drove through the Rockies to Linda's where she spent 10 days and then a week at Iris' on Vancouver island. (times may not be precise. In total she spent 6 weeks in Canada on that trip, arriving at the beginning of July and leaving mid-August.)

email from Betty (Eritsland) Lowe, Jan 2002: "[in 1980 in Norway], Stan and I visited a man named Gustav Oldereid, Haldri's son, a retired teacher, living with his wife on a farm called Oldereid. The first thing he did was show me a picture of Alma, at about 19 yrs. of age -- she was beautiful -- telling me that he and she had corresponded for years. He was Haldri's third of four children." [Haldri Martine was one of Anna Marie's sisters, so Gustav was first cousin to Alma and all her siblings.]
