I am a retired clergyman of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and a former Navy chaplain (ret CAPT). A graduate of the Univeristy of Virginia (B.A. '51) and Princeton Theological Seminary (M.Div. '56), George Washington University (M.A.'71) and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (D.Min.'85), I also studied a year at New College, University of Edinburgh,Scotland ('52-3) I have served four parishes in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Illinois. I served as Moderator of the Synod of Lincoln Trails (IL & IN) and moderator of the presbytery of Southeastern Illinois. I am married to the former Jane Calvert Cooper and we have a son Robert and a daughter Margaret. I have been able to trace my ancestry back to John and Agnes (Thompson) Angus who emigrated from Greenock, Scotland with their two children John and Mary in 1829.They settled in New York City.Their third child David was born in New York in 1830.I am a descendent of David Angus.John and Agnes were married in the Old West Kirk in Greenock in 1820. John was born 18 April 1790 in New Kilpatrick, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. Agnes was born 15 May 1800 was baptized in the Old West KirK in Greenock in that year. John's parents were Robert Angus and Mary Wood Angus.Robert was born on 30 December 1757 in Kilpatrick, Dunbarton. His parents were James Angus (5 May 1733, Falkirk, Dunbartonshire) and Jean Mcaldoe Angus. James was the son of Thomas Angus and Agnes Wilson Angus.Thomas was born on 27 September 1700 in Kirkintillock,Scotland. This is a far back as I have been able to go.
