Notes for Samuel Comstock (Cumstock):The court records of Hartford, Conn., show that "Samuel Comstoc k gave recognizance March 1, 1648, for then days of good behavior and fo r satisfying what damage Mr. Robins shall sustain for want of his servant ."When, in 1653, war with the Dutch seemed imminent, Samuel went on th e "figgot Swallow" to Block Island and seized the goods and people ther e appertaining to a Dutch Captain Kempo Sybando, and took them to New Lon don, apparently to Gov. John Winthrop. In the same year Samuel was in Rho de Island. Samuel Comstock bought of John Sm ith his house and lot in Pro vidence,
