1. William² Adams II (William¹) was born 16 Aug 1819 in Temperanceville, Allegheny, PA, and died 22 Sep 1902 in Cincinnati, Hamilton, OH. He married Jane Collins 15 Nov 1843, daughter of Robert Collins and Jean Neil. She was born 09 Feb 1822 in Mauchline, Ayr, Scotland, and died 1888 in Cincinnati, Hamilton, OH.

Sources for children: Census records. Birth and death certificates for David. Family History Center Temple work by William James Adams, grandson of William II. He is the son of James Spar Adams, our great grandfather's brother. He must have become a Mormon and baptized every male by proxy in 1967. Temple records form Login, UT. His father could also have been William III because Wiliam James knew only William and Virginia's marriage date and his mother's full name. He could have been named after William III brother's middle name. Records only state that William James Adams was the grandson of Wiliam II.

Our gr, gr, grandfather, William sold a farm to our great grandfather, David and his brother, Charles (the youngest two) in 1899. David and Louisa were married in 1880 so she must have also moved to the farm in Houston, IN. They had two boys, David Thomas, b. 1882 and Roy. David T. met our grandmother Tessie Pruitt in Houston, IN where she was born in 1883. He was 17 and she was 16. They married in 1902, three years later and had eight children. Seven boys and one girl.

On June 6, 2002, I, Elizabeth (Libby) Appelgate went to do research in Cincinnati on my 2nd great grandfather, William Adams. According to the census records, he lived in Cincinnati for fifty years. The Cincinnati City Library has a large genealogy section where I found him and his wife, Jane Collins Adams in the 1858, 1859 and 1861 city directiories. He is listed as a fireman and worked as a "driver" at Brighten Engine House, 30 Bank St., Cincinnati, OH. A driver is the fireman that tends the horses, exercises them and cares for equestrian equipment. After driving to a fire, engine drivers looked after all the horses. The hose reel drivers acted as pipemen a the fire scene.

Notes for Jane Collins:
In the summer of 2005 I, Elizabeth (Libby) Appegate took a trip to the UK to visit the town of Mauchlin, Ayr, Scotland to walk in the steps of my 2nd great grandmother. It was a very small town and the citizens of this town of Robert Burns were speaking with a very heavy Scottish accent so that I could barely understand them but everyone that I met were very helpful and tried to find anyone with the surname of Collins. I took photos of the very beautiful Parrish where she was baptized in 1822 and walked the whole length of the town and it didn't take me very long. There was a funny saying in Mauchline and that is "If you were born and grew up in Mauchline, you were very likely related to Robert Burns."
