4. Elizabeth L.3 Hill (Wilburn B.2, John1) was born 30 Sep 1862 in Houston, Jackson, IN, and died 05 Dec 1937 in Houston, Jackson, IN. She married Cyrus Dunham Pruitt 31 Dec 1882 in Houston, Jackson, IN, son of Aaron Pruitt and Sara Thompson. He was born 07 Nov 1861, and died 21 Jan 1943 in Houston, Jackson, IN.

Notes for Elizabeth L. Hill:
These are stories from Elizabeth Hill's grand niece Alice who has some wonderful memories of Elizabeth, my great grandmother after whom I was named: Elizabeth and Dunham lived in what was called "Crockett Holler". Alice was raised there on Wilburn and Elizabeth's old place. Ellen and her husband lived there, also...on different parcels. She remembers Dunny as a very kind to the children of the holler. The depression of the 30's didn't hurt Liz and Dunham quite as severe as some, because Dunham was a farmer and raised his own crops and had cows for milk and cattle and pigs for slaughter. Alice's father, Irvin Hill, (Daniel's son) helped Dunham raise potatoes for a share of them. They were Irish Cobbler potatoes that were as big as shoes. Alice and her brother wore a path to Aunt Liz's from school. They would take the detour just to go past her house because she always had a cookie for them. She was a very, very kind woman...large in size, funny and loved children. She would always make them hot cocoa on cold days. It was such a treat to them because Aunt Liz had cows to provide milk. Every year when it got close to Christmas, Liz would say "Dunny, go down to the cellar and bring me some hickory nuts. These children need a hickory nut cake." Dunham would go get them and crack them, and she and her brother would spend hours picking out the little pieces of nut sitting by the stove and then Liz would bake their cake.

On Sundays all of Liz's children and grandchildren would come for Sunday dinner. There was always a house full on Sundays.

Notes for Cyrus Dunham Pruitt:

A Rootsweb GEDCOM file from Terry D. Smith indicates "L. D. Cyrus Pruitt" should be "Cyrus L. D. Pruitt." His information was apparently derived from the files of Lee Harlin Bahan.

Elizabeth Applegate, great granddaughter of this individual, has informed me that the name "L. D. Cyrus Pruitt" found in many data sets for the Pruitt family, is incorrect. Her records indicate the proper name is "C. Dunham Pruitt"

The LDS files list a marriage between Elizabeth Hill and Cyrus L.D. Pruitt 31 Dec 1882.
