Notes for John Adams - 1: John Adams - 1 arrived in Plymouth, Mass. 9 November, 1621, aboard the ship "Fortune", Thomas Burton, Master, which had sailed from London in early July. This was the first ship to arrive in the new colony since the arrival of the Mayflower in November, 1620. Also aboard the Fortune were men who became prominent leaders in the new settlement such as Jonathon Brewster, Thomas Prence, William Pitt, John Winslow, and Phillipe De La Noye. The last named became the ancestor of Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1882-1945), thirty second president of the United States.
