I am DR. ELIAHU ARDITI MD.-M.P.H., born in Asuncion, Paraguay on December 15, 1922,where I lived up until 1949 when I decided to emigrate to Israel and be a citizen as all jews that wanted to participate in the development of the new State in the ancient place and origin of the jewish people. My father LEON ARDITI was born in Salonica, when this city was under the hands of the Ottoman Empire. At age of fifteen was send to Egypt. In 1916 emigrated to Paraguay and established there.He was very active in jewish associations. He was one who create the Hevrah Kaddisha in Paraguay with other sefardim jews. Later he associated to Mr Houzet, a french born man and both became importer of goods from France.Mr. Houzet leave Paraguay and my father set a new busines: bringing goods from France and Checoeslovakia. My father Leon Arditi keep contact with his cousin from Salonika, also named LEON ARDITI. His cousin perished in Auschwitz with his mother named Reina or Regina and child called Samuel and his wife Deisy, in the Holocaust. My father marriedmuy mother VICTORIA PALOMBO born in Bergamo, Turkey in the year 1922.Her father was Hayim Palombo and her mother Sara Korkidi sister of Rabi Nessim Korkidi who was in the comitee "Ahuzat Habait" that bought lands in the North of Jaffa to build Tel Aviv. He was also the Chief Rabi of Tel Aviv whenMeir Dizengoff was the Mayor of the City. I am the elder son of this marriage.Later became my brothers: Nessim. Sara, Samuel and Hayim. I became a Physician on 1946,from the School of Medicine, University of Asuncion Paraguay, and married with SHOSHANAH BRAUNFELD in 1947. My first child JOEL was born in Paraguay in 1948 and in 1949 I emigrated to Israel. The second son, YEHUDAH was born in Israel in 1949, the year we arrived to Israel. As a physician I started my work the same year as a family physician, being responsible of the setllers health in a couple of kibutzim in the Negev region a job that was interrupted on March 1951 because my drafting to the Army. After the military service I went to live in Nes Ziona a town south of Tel Aviv in November 1952, when the town has 8.000 inhabitants. I was the family physician of a population of 1.800 insured membersof the Kupat Holim, a medical branch of the Israel Labour Federacion. My population was composed by new inmigrantas from Turkey, Maroco, Irak, Rumania, Poland and Russia. In 1959 I was sent in the Regional Hospital of Rehovot, "Kaplan Hospital" to a post graduated year in the Interenal Medicine Departmente during nine months and after yhat during three months in the Pediatric Department. I returned to my former job, but only for one year, because I was send for one year period to Hadassah Medical School of Medicine in Jerusalem. The purpose was to receive my Master in Public Health and later to enter in the Administrative Branch of Kupat Holim. After receiving my MPH degree I was appointed DeputyMedical Regional Officer in the City of Rehovot, job that lasted from 1962 to 1968. In 1968 I was apponted Regional Medical Officer in Petah Tikvah from 1968 to 1973. In thisyearI was appointed Regional Medical Officer in the Ramat Gan, job that I occupied during fifteen years, until my retirement in 1988. During twelve years after my retiremen I was a Family Phisician. I left the profession in 2000, after completing 50 years of work in the same Institution.
