Notes for M
ARY CATHERINE SULLENGER:
The Death of a Sister
Died at her home in Grandview, Friday morning March 13, 1896, Mrs. Mary Arrihood, aged 38 years, 11 months and 12 days. Her death was caused by consumption. She bore her suffering patiently. Sister Arihood was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sullenger. She was married to Jefferson Arrihood, June 15th, 1873, and has since been a resident of Louisa county. This union was blest with 4 children, three preceding her to the spirit world; Callie, Willie and Jimmie. Clay with their father, three sisters, mother, step-father and many friends survive to mourn her departure. Sister Arrihood was converted in childhood. She was a faithful Christian, a loving wife and a good
mother.
May the Lord comfort this bereaved family and friends and may all meet where parting will be no more. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Grandview, conducted by Rev. Raimage.

'Tis finished, the conflict is past;
The haven born spirit has fled,
She has accomplished here wishes at last,
For now she is entombed with the dead.

The weeks and months of affliction are o'er,
We see her in anguish no more,
But angels did waft her soul to God,
Though we miss her in many a place.

Our loss is her gain, and we will se her no more
Till we meet in Cainans happy shore
And there we will meet all the loved ones gone before,
Yes, we will meet her there.

Our sister has gone to be with the Lord,
Oh! Why do we weep and mourn,
For she sings with the angels in one accord,
Since the Lord has called her home.

Yes we shall meet her there
With the angels and heaven born souls.
Yes we will meet her over there
Grandview, Iowa.

-From a newspaper clipping found in the Bible of Clay A. Arihood

----------
There is a problem with the date of death/burial. The monument of
Mary says that death occurred on March 13, 1896. The death record in
the Louisa, Iowa County Courthouse records the date of death as March
13, 1895 and the date of burial as March 15, 1895.
