| I have researched my family tree ARMSTRONG back to 1740.I am interested in ARMSTRONG'S from 1780 to Present from Sunderland, Newcastle, North shields, South Shields and Hexham All in the North East of England who were Lath merchants, Timber merchants House Carpenters and Victuallers. Some of which were Freeman of Newcastle. Also REWCASTLE'S from Hexham around and before 1740. Also the name ANCELL JOHNSON from Sunderland 1870's + and SMITH BAILES from Sunderland 1870's + . I am also trying to find my grandfathers cousin Bessie Coates b. 1918 in Fishburn, Sedgefield, Co. Durham England. Daughter of Phillis Longstaff Armstrong and Thomas Coates, Who emigrated to Kenya or South Africa in the 1940's Occupation : Photographer. Can anyone check for me any information On WILLIAM ARMSTRONG Of Camberwell in Surrey England in 1815. and CHARLES ARMSTRONG ESQ Of Hunter Street, Brunswick Square, LONDON in 1815. Both are mentioned as relatives of Dr. John Armstrong of North Shields, Tynemouth, Northumberland Who left an Annuity to William Armstrong of Shield-field Newcastle upon Tyne.(The only William Armstrong i have found was Lord Armstrong's Father) in 1832. So i am trying to find out if he was the same one in London. They should be in Directory's i.e. Kellys, Wards, Piggots etc. and see if they are in the 1841 Census or earlier. Many Thanks Any Information would be appreciated. |
