2. JOSEPH JOHN² BREMER (SIMON P¹) was born 18 Apr 1862 in Illinois, and died 15 Jan 1945 in Bourbon, Missouri. He married MARY EMMA THRONE 10 May 1885 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, daughter of GEORGE THRONE and MARY NANN. She was born 04 Apr 1864 in Stone Bank, Wisconsin, and died 02 Dec 1940 in Bourbon, Missouri.

Notes for JOSEPH JOHN BREMER:
Joseph John Bremer was born in Sigel, Il on April 18, 1862. He move to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in about 1884 where he delivered Milk in a milk wagon ( I'm Guessing the date ). In 1885 he married Mary Emma Throne of Wisconsin.
Around 1909 he moved to Bourbon and brought a farm, and in 1915 he traded his farm for a Hardware Store, owned by JJ Biller, so JJ Biller and JJ Bremer had a trade.
On Saturday morning October 18, 1924 Bremer Hardware burnt to the Ground, which was started by the KKK. A new store was erected of blocks and it stood there until 1970. It was time for a newer and better Hardware Store so the old one was torn down to make room for the new one, which is still there.
I remember as a little girl I loved to browse the store. It had just about everything in it from toy wagons to dynamite and dynamite caps of course dynamite is not allowed to be sold these days. I remember horse collars and bridles hanging from the walls, oil cloth for table coverings and spit-toons on the floor. I remember the horse and Buggies coming to town and I would take a ride in them.
Joseph John (JJ) Bremer owned Bremer Hardware. Later his son Lawrence Throne (L.T.) Bremer became a partner and his sister Monica Roosman and husband Robert Roosman also became partners in the business. Robert was killed and Monica stayed in business for some years. Lawrence bought Monica out and later made his son warder Throne Bremer a partner. Lawrence's daughter Brenda Clydina Armstrong and husband Leonard Armstrong also became partners until 1980, and at that time they sold their part to Warder and Alice Bremer.
Saturday August 25, 2001 Bremer Hardware had their 85th Anniversary.
In 1982 Leonard Armstrong opened his own Lumber Co. on the north service road and it was called I-44 Lumber. Gailand joined his dad in I-44 Lumber in 1988 and Lyle joined the company in 1992.
November 18, 2002 I-44 Lumber was sold to Meeks Lumber Co.
