Descendants of Jesse Taylor




Generation No. 1


1. JESSE1 TAYLOR was born 1811 in Wythe Co VA.1, and died Bef. 1858 in Boyd Co. KY2. He married JANE MUTTER Bef. 1840.


Notes for JESSE TAYLOR:

Hi,
       Nice to hear from you. I copied the description of the land and the
grant #. Jesse Taylor 1 Jan 1851, Wayne Co. 30 A. on waters of Grassy a
right hand fork of Mele Creek. Grant # 104 pg. 645.
I wrote to the Library of VA and sent them $10.00 and they eventually
sent me the copy of my husband's gr grandfathers grant. I then wanted
to know if he made application for this grant, and they wrote back and
told me, there was no more paperwork. I'm contemplating writing to the
courthouse in Independence to see if they have paperwork on the grant.
I can't believe you just walked in and said,"I'll take that land there,"
and they gave it to you!
       I can't remember if I told you there were Jesse Taylors in the Court
Records of Grayson Co between 1818-1850. Also on tax records for
1826-1844. Also on the 1840, Grayson Co. Census. Since I'm looking for
Joseph A., I copied some of the markings under the Taylor names. For
Jese or Jesse they were as follows:
0-0-0-0-0-1-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-1. To read the above, follow
this: Column 1-1835-1840birth;col. 2 1830-35; 3. 1825-30; 4, 1820-25;5.
1810-20;6. 1800-1810. That would make Jesse born between 1800-1810. The
las mark, may have been the total persons.

Joyce's comment: This is not entirely verified to be our Jesse; but it
is very possible that it is.


Family story says that Jesse and his brother came to America...walked west. Came to fork in the road, shook hands and parted ways. Jesse Taylor came to the Kentucky Coalition. He later bought land in W. Va. [1948 family tree

Fact 10: the father of this Jesse.5

George W. 4 M. b. Va b. 1846
Jesse Taylor 9/12 M. Va.

In 1860 Boyd Co. Census, Evelyn found Jane Taylor, apparently living
as a widow. Elizabeth was not included because she had married
William Henry Earnst Bruns that year in Boyd Co. [This was also
verified by the Historical Society spokesperson, Evelyn Jackson, in a
1983 report to a Bruns family member, Peggy Bruns.

Children listed were:
William Taylor age 17 m. b. in KY
George Taylor age 12 m. b. in Ky
Jesse Taylor age 9 m. b. in Ky
Jane Taylor age 6 F. b. in Ky
Frances Taylor age 5 F. b. in Ky
Wade Taylor age 2 m. b. in Ky
I would assume that Her husband, Jesse Taylor would have died bef. 1958,
due to the fact that there is a 2year old child.

More About JANE MUTTER:
Fact 1: 1860, Census indicates that she was born in Pike
Fact 2: Co. Ky7


Marriage Notes for JESSE TAYLOR and JANE MUTTER:
family record also shows an Emma Taylor and Jenny Taylor not included
in the children of this marriage. Since they are not listed on the 1850 or
1860 census, which were sent by the E Ky Genealogical society; it is
possible that these people are wives or such....Will keep them in mind..
I show a death cert for a Jesse Taylor, which has not quite matched up
to this family, as of yet. But it may be a later generation. He was born
1904 and died 1969 by drowning.
Also show an Emma Taylor. This was evidently a married name.
She was b. 1913 d. 1981. It is from Ky. All it says is she was a widow;
but does not say whose...These are just pieces of the Taylor puzzle.
Boyd Co. Historical Society also shows a marriage for Jesse Taylor
and Frankie Lucas, Jan. 2, 1823. At this time, do not know if there is
any relationship.
