Laura grew up on her father's farm at Point Au Rushe Ny on the shore of Lake Champlain.She also stayed with her Grandmother Phair in Plattsburg. Laura worked in a store in Plattsburg and while working there one day. her husband-to-be came in. Roy was in the US Army stationed at Fort Ticonderoga. They became acquainted and were eventually married July 6,1916. Roy wore his dress uniform and Laura wore ablack silk pleated suit with a yellow blouse.
