Notes for THOMAS ALEXANDER ARMSTRONG: "Tommie" is mentioned in letters written by Nancy Gibbons Armstrong in December 1929 and January 1930. She was a widow at that time, and her bachelor brother may have been living with her in Lee's Summit MO. An Armstrong family story says that Thomas Armstrong once purchased a watch, had it engraved, and offered it to a lady in a marriage proposal, but the proposal was rejected. The watch was passed down as a marriage gift within the family for the next two generations. |
