Armstrong Family Tree

My family settled in Franklin County, Iowa, in 1857; since then, most branches of the family have been great record keepers.In fact, every June we have a reunion at the "old homestead" to update records and keep in touch.
However, other names in my family tree have been harder to track down, particularly the Paynes.To make it even more challenging, my great-grandfather Payne was born a Butler but changed his name at some point--and for some mysterious reason--to his mother's maiden name.The only Butler relative I'm aware of is Rev. W.E. Butler, who paid my grandfather's fare when he came to the United States in 1911 from England.
