The descendant outline file for Alexander Montgomery shows, among other things, how our Arnetts are related to Samuel Langhorne Clemens (a/k/a Mark Twain). His great-grandmother was a Montgomery.

Heinrich Felix Merckel is the oldest ancestor I've been able to find so far. He was born in Germany in 1643. He came to New York to escape persecution by the French (my wife's ancestors!). The name Merckel became "Miracle," as in the town of Miracle, Kentucky.

Cindy's family tree is pretty big, mainly because we've traced her back to European royalty. She is a direct descendant of King Henry II of England and Eleanor of Aquitaine, which means she's also directly descended from Scottish Kings and Charlemagne.
