William Arnold Found After He Had Been Dead Several Days. Small Pool of Blood and in Working Suit

Alexandria, Ind., Mar. 22 -- In the corner of a room at 1216 West Madison street, William Arnold, who lived alone there, was found dead this afternoon by neighbors who had become alarmed by his absence. Decomposition was in a primary stage, indicating that the man had been dead for two or three days, probably since Saturday night.
Beneath the body, which was attired in ordinary working clothing, was a small pool of blood, which, at first gave rise to the suspicion that the man might have been foully dealt with. The police, who were early on the ground, made a thorough investigation of this phase of the case, but found nothing to substantiate the suspicion.

Grime of Labor
Arnold had been employed in various capacities as a laborer, and worked occasionally in the plate glass factory, although he did not have regular employment there. His face and hands bore the grime of his days toil, and it is supposed that he died either Friday or Saturday night after going home from his work, and before he had washed and cleaned himself. He had a son and some other relatives with whom the officers are endeavoring to get in touch, but his wife died several years ago. The Thomas & Heritage ambulance brought the body to the morgue, where a coroner's inquest will be held.
