Supposedly, James PETERS came to America in 1748 from Ireland. He was married in 1749 to Mary BIRD (BURD). In 1750, he supposedly drowned in the Susquehanna River while trying to rescue a woman who had fallen overboard from a flatboat. His death was caused by his having a large amount of silver money on his person which pulled him to the bottom of the river. Three months after his death, a son named John was born. I am searching for information on the parents, siblings and birth places of both James and Mary. John and his wife Rachel POWNALL settled in Pike County, Ohio. They had the following children: Abigail, Mary, John C., Rachel, William D., Margaret, Elisha P., Sarah (Sallie), and Elizabeth. Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share any information that I have.
