Isley executed the within deed in his possession for the purpose therein expressed as witness my hand and seal this Dec. 11, 1885.   Thos A Ratliff __ State of North Carolina Rockingham County (NOTE:  The remainder is unreadable.)

Joel Isley and wife Molly – Molly was a daughter of Simpson and Delilah; Joel Isley was her husband

Anderson S. Payne and wife Sarah – Sarah was a daughter of Simpson and Delilah

George W. Isley and wife Martha J – George W. was a son of Simpson and Delilah

Edwin Isley – Edwin was a son of Simpson and Delilah. We have to assume that his first wife had died and we know he had not yet married his second wife.

Amanda Isley – This name is new; however, she could have been Martha Ann and the true name was Martha Amanda; otherwise, Martha Ann was no longer living.

Bettie Isley – Elizabeth, daughter of Simpson and Delilah

Thomas Rumley and wife Malinda – First record we have of a daughter’s name, enumerated in the 1840 census and already married by 1850. We knew of her existence but did not know her name, Katie Malinda.

Washington Brown and wife Barbara – First record we have of a daughter’s name, enumerated in the 1840 census and already married by 1850. We knew of her existence but did not know her name, Barbara A.

Sanford M. Isley – This is the first we even knew of him. We know that many census records are inaccurate. We also now know of a marriage record that shows his parents as Simpson and Delilah.
