This branch of the Arnett family originated in the Lowlands of France or Belgium. We were Huguenots who escaped during the religious civil wars of the Reformation and came as refugees to England around the end of the 16th century. We settled in and around the town of Buckingham. The specific details were recorded in the family archives about 1900 and the clues have been verified in the parish records of Buckinghamshire. Our founder, Charles Arnett, was born on the Northhamptonshire borders c. 1760 and settled in London as a merchant and husband to Mary. The family prospered in London. Their great-grandson, George, emigrated to Canada in 1896, married Fanny and established the Vancouver Arnetts. We are, of course, a wonderful group! |
