Notes for George Thomas Arthur: Known as George William Arthur Jr. all of his life, he was actually George Thomas Arthur. Junior was born in 1897 but died at childbirth. He worked for the B&O railroad all of his life, some 45 years. In 1959 he decided to run for the City Council of Baltimore City and was elected and reelected in 1963. He died in his second term in 1964. He was on the Grady ticket (Grady, Goodman and Graham) known as the "three G's". Served with William Schaeffer, who later became Mayor and then Governor of the state. He spent many years managing the campaigns of his brother James and sister-in-law Anna. When Anna died Mayor D'Alesandro appointed John Pica and he was a little upset that the Mayor didn't appoint him. He ran for office at the next election and won, the first time he ever ran for office.
