Notes for John Thomas Arthur: John Thomas Arthur was a policeman most of his life. He died living at 412 E. Eager Street. Buried in New Cathedral Cemetery. He had previously lived at 103 N. Spring St.; 13 Valley St; and 26 E Eager St.
He was located in the US Census of 1900, 1880, 1870,1850 and the Baltimore City Police Census of 1868. He was 28 in 1868; 30 in 1870; 40 in 1880; 60 in 1900. Death certificate shows he was born April 4, 1843 from information given by Sarah, his wife. However. he was consistent in the Census records as hving been born in 1840.. Died from" edema of lump contributed by cancer of the intestine." Death certificate indicates that he lived 49 years in Baltimore and was a retired police officer.

In a German Newpaper dated 1879 Officer Arthur occurs helping to arrest a rowdy individual. I have a transcript of that article translated into English.
Death Certificate show that he died from "Edema of Lump", that probably indicated carcinoma.
In Baltimore Sun dated 12/3/1880 hewas mentioned as a pallbearer at funeral of fellow officer Rosse in Baltimore Cemetery.
Glenomra-Kilokennedy
A parish in the barony of Lower Tulla, 2 1/2 miles east of Broadford, Co. Clare, Munster. It contains the village of Kilbane. Length, 71/2 miles; breadth, 21/4; area. 11656 acres. Pop., in 1831, 3586; in 1841, 3811. Houses 596. Pop. of the rural districts, in 1841, 3441. Houses 538. The surface, with the exception of Mr. Arthur's demesne, consists of indifferent and mountainous land. The mountains of Cragnamurragh and Glennagalliagh have altitudes of 1729 and 1459 feet. the drainage is chiefly westward by the Glenmomra to the Ougarnee; and the road from Broadford to Killahow passes through the interior. This parish is a vicarge, and part of the benefice of Kiltonanlea, in the dio. of Killahoe. Vicarial tithe composition, 103 lbs 14s. 101/2d. The roman Catholic chapel has an attendance of 750; and in the roman Catholic parochial arrangement, is united to the chapel of Kiltananlea. Killokennedy -Description in 1837
A parish, in the barony of Tulla, county of Clare, and province of Munster, 5 miles (w) from Killahoe, on the road from that place to Ennis; containing 3586 inhabitants. It comprises 9349 statute miles, as applotted under the Tithe Act, including much mountain pasture and some bog. Good building and flag stone are obtained. Ballyquin, the seat of -Arthur, Esq., is sitiated in Glenomera, which is celebrated as a shooting station for grouse and pheasants.. At Kilbane is a constabulary police station. It is a vicarage, in the diocese of Killahoe, forming part of the union of Kiltonnanlea, or Doonas: the rectory is part of the union of Omullod; the tithes amount to 216 lbs. 1.91/2 per annum., of which 106lbs .3.1 is payable to the vicar, and the remainder to the rector. In the R.C. divisions it forms part of the unions or districts of Broadford and Doonas, and has chapels at Kilbane and Kilmore. There are two private schools, in which about 220 children attend.
