James Edgar Arthur (son of John Thomas Arthur and Sarah Jane Darmody)^{49, 50, 51, 52, 53} was born 18 Aug 1877 in Baltimore, Maryland, and died 12 Feb 1952 in Baltimore, Maryland. He married Catherine Johnston on 12 Dec 1899 in St Ignatius Baltimore, MD⁵⁴, daughter of Patrick Johnston and Mary McElroy.

In 1900 they lived at 430 Lanvale Ave. At some point before 1910 they bought a house at 1519 Mount Royal Ave, just across the street from Corpus Christi School, where James went to grammar school (Stephanie town). James Edgar was a distributor for Good Luck Margarine and Kraft Cheese.

Went to Loyola High. Owned Easton's Mayonnaise-sold to Kraft. Went into business for himself as King Arthur syrup. Put Good Luck Margarine on the market. Owned Shefford Cheese and Snappy Cheese. Business was on Richmond off Park. Lost the business in the depression. Had a couple of heart attacks. He moved in with his son and wife at 2024 Mount Royal Terrace and continued to do business from the back of the house.

In 1900 Census lived on East Lanvale St.

1900 Census indicates that James E. Arthur lived with his wife Kate M. and Mamie M. Johnston at 430 E. Lanvale St. They all indicated that they were born in Maryland but both parents were born in Ireland.

Death certificate show that cause of death was "Cerebral thrombosis and arteriosclerosis". Self employed as a Manufacturer's agent.
