Research materials for this site were begun by Darlene and John Erickson, of La Cresenta, Minnesota, regarding Darlene's ADLER family of Minnesota. The Erickson's began their reseach in 1977, and published their ADLER FAMILY book in December 2005.A copy of that book has been placed with the Family History Library, Salt Lake, Utah, as well as with the Olmsted Historical Society, Rochester, Minnesota.Additional copies are held by family members. J. Friedrich Adler, and his wife, Johanna Dorothea Maria (NIETHAN) Adler, were born in the Mechlinburg-Streiz region of Germany, which is now part of modern Poland. They emigrated, on the bark Sidonia, arriving at New York harbor on 15 July 1852, with their children, Herman, Mary Louise, Hulda, Carl "Charles", Malvina, Ernest Carl, Ernest Wilhelm, Adolph, and August - - this is their American story. Friedrich and Johanna Adler would add one more "chapter" to their American story with the birth of their youngest daughter, Maria (Adler) Ahnemann, who was born in Illinois in 1854.This last "chapter" would be the one who petitioned for the probate of her father's 1893 will in Goodhue County, Minnesota. Originally, the Adler family settled in Illinois, but in the 1860s they moved to Minnesota, as did a number of their children - - but two daughters, married, and remained in Illinois.With Friedrich and Johanna Adler, their sons and other daughters moved to Minnesota, married and established families. Later on, one son, and his family, moved to homestead in North Dakota, as did a number of other pioneers from Pine Island. Some of these migratationstories were transcribed under the North Dakota WPA Womens Pioneer Project, including that of the family of Herman Adler. Johanna Dorothea Maria (Niethan) Adler and J. Friedrick Adler, are buried in the Poplar Grove Cemetery, Pine Island, Minnesota. The records of the Poplar Grove Ev. Lutheran Church, Pine Island, together with filmed records of Sankt Matthaeus, Bredow, Pommern, Preussen helped to establish dates of birth, as well as clearly link family members. Johanna Dorothea Adler died in 1869, while her husband, J. Friedrich, would live another 25 years, dying in 1893.His will helped to establish his living children, including the married names of his daughters, one of whom is my g-g-grandmother, Mary Louise "Albertina" ADLER Collier. We have added family genealogy reports for J. Friedrich Adler and Johanna Dorothea Maria (Niethan) Adler, as well as trees for the families that their daughters married into, i.e. Ahnemann, Collier, Siefker, and Zuelke.Reports for the families of their sons can be viewed under the report for J.
