The will of Arnall Shilling of Throwley dated 1659
In the name of God Amen the first daye of february in the yeare of our Lord one thousand six hundred fiftie and nyne I Arnall Shilling of Throwley in the countie of Kent yeoman being but weake of body but of good and perfect memorie blessed be my good God doe ordaine and make this my last will and testament in the manner and forme following First I bequeathe my soule and body into the hands and protectione of my mercifull God and loving father by whose love his sonne was sent to be my redeemer and his death and passione and merritts I assuredly hope and beleive to have and absolute forgivenesse for all my sinnes whatsoever and through his mercy tohave my everlasting abode with him in the heavens in glorie and for my body I will be buried within the parish churchyarde of Throughly beside my beloved wife and childe lately deceased at the discretione of my executor hereafter named And conserning all such goodes and household stuffe as the lord my good God hath lent me I will and bequeath in manner and forme following first for all such gifts and exspences at my funerall I leave wholy at the discrectione of my beloved sonne Thomas Shilling two doe as he shall think fit. Item I will and bequeath to my daughter Jane Shilling the full and just sume of five poundes for her to bee paid to her when she is one and twentie years of age. Item I will and bequeathe to my daughter Elizabeth Shilling the full sume of five poundes for to be paid to her when she is one and twenty years of age. Item I will and bequeathe to Maria my daughter the full sume of five poundes for to be paid to her when she is one and twentie years of age. My desier is those three should have theire money paid in verie good lawfull money of England. Item I will and bequeath to Lettis Baker widdowe the full of five shillings to be paid to her within three monthes next after my decease. The remainder of all my moveable goodes whatsoever when debts and legacyes be paid I will and bequeath two my only beloved sonne Thomas Shilling and his heirs for ever. I the above Arnall Shilling doe ordaine and make the said Thomas my sonne my sole executor of this my last will and testament of me the aforesaid Arnall Shilling made and declared the day and yeare first above written conferming all such tenaments and landes as the lord my good God hath lent me. Item I will and bequeath all my tenaments and landes whatsoever within the parish of Throughley or else where within the countie of Kent two Thomas Shilling my sole executor and his heires for ever. And I desier Thomas Greenstreet for to be my overseer or ffefey in trust of this my last will and testament given under my hand. In wittnes where I have here unto set my hand and seale the daye and yeare abovesaid, 1659. My desier is that my sonne Thomas Shilling should bring my youngest daughter Maria Shilling up till such times she is able to gaine her living by her portione here above mentioned.
