| I wanted to know of my father's families ancestral history, this was a lot harder as we could only go back to my father’s (Rex Eli) Grandfather (James). We found that he was married twice and that Dad’s side was from the second marriage. James married Mary Elizabeth Brown in Darlington, Yorkshire, England, in 1876.They arrived in New Zealand on the ship called the “Leicester” in 1877 with a newly born baby son called Thomas and settled down in the Wellington area. He remarried after the death of Mary to a Elizabeth Tamplin in Palmerston North about 1889. We were able to trace the Astwood family back to William and Mary Astwood from Masham in North Yorkshire. I would like to thank everyone who has helped me with information to build up this Family Tree. Craig |
