TOMBSTONE: James Gardner; b. 18 Mar 1921, d. 30 Nov 1987 - SGT. US ARMY; WWII

Jim was tall, slender, and blue-eyed with a dark complexion. His first
wife, Rudean, was a pretty woman, short, with black hair and blue eyes. He
married her a second time, after a divorce, then, later, married Lillian
(Brannan) Robertson, the widow of a cousin (Pete Robertson). She was tall with
blue eyes and light brown hair, a compassionate person with an inner strength
that helped her through many difficult trials. They lived on Lake Leon near
Eastland, TX, where Jim grew a beautiful garden every year.
When I was young (12 or 13 yrs. old), I spent a week with Jim and Rudean
two different times while they were were living in Breckenridge, TX. The first
time I visited they were living in a small apartment and the second time in a
little room back of Mrs. Jessie Johnston's (her mother) house. Rudean always
made an effort to do something special for me. I can remember having a Weiner
roast and during the first visit she sewed some some clothes for me. (BR)
Jim operated a service station most of his life, first in Breckenridge, TX,
then, Odessa, TX, and finally in Eastland, TX, where he lived at the time of
his death.
