Jack William Atwell recounts this story: Marshall Burton Atwell attended Aimee Semple MacPherson's church. He did not drive, so he would walk to the church almost every day. He would often cross in the middle of the street. When he did, he would just hold up his hand thinking that alone would keep him from being hit by a car. One day in early June 1932 while he was walking across Glendale Bl. near Echo Park he was hit by a car and had to go to the hospital. He developed pneumonia and died on June 22, 1932.
