Notes for Eliphalet Townsend I: From OTTOENGEL website by Bud Engelhardt (http://awt.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:1585131&id=I2799): "All twelve of the children born to Aliphalet and Hannah Townsend lived to be married and had families. About 1809 Eliphalet Townsend paid for one hundred acres of good land in Brome, Lower Canada, on which he lived. He died April 9, 1850, aged 75 years, 2 months, and 7 days, of the third shock of palsy (or paralysis). It is well said, that he was none the less a man for his having lived fifty-one years in Canada. Hannah, his wife, died at Brome, September 5, 1829, aged 47 years, 7 months, and 9 days Hannah and Eliphalet, Sr., Eliphalet Jr., Anna, and three of the children of Eliphalet Jr and Ann M. George, his wife; were all buried on the farm of Eliphalet, Sr., in Brome, Lower Canada, on a rise of land north of the house. All the above is indicated in the booklet GENEALOGY OF JONATHAN TOWNSEND, compiled by Benjamin D. Townsend in 1897."
