* Adkins, Anderson, Austin, Blevins, Henry, & Montgomery*

Updated May 16, 2006

Our families are primarily from the Southside area of Virginia . From there they migrated along the Virginia/North Carolina line to the New River Valley area of VA/NC.

After the Revolutionary War they migrated to what was to become the State of Tennessee, thence they migrated to Wayne County, KY and the surrounding counties.

Around 1810, or before, they started migrating to the Bledsoe & Marion County, TN area, including Jackson County, AL. This migration did not end until after the "Trail of Tears" around 1838.

The major area of this migration included DeKalb County, AL & Dade County, GA.

Some of these families then migrated to Missouri & Arkansas up to and including the period before the Civil War.

After the Civil War many people left this area due to the dire financial situation in the South. Many went to Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma, as well as other western and nothern states to find better economical conditions.

Other associated family names include, but are not limited to: Emmett, Countiss, Bridges, Satterfield, & Troxell.
