| My research has centered on the Austin/Aston families in Bedford, Botetourt, & Rockbridge Counties, Virginia. Key to sorting the Austin families of Bedford has been the 1896 work "A Historical Record of Alexander-Austin-Arnold Families" by Frances Austin Arnold. I have added dates and expanded this early work to some extent. Also, the "Related Families of Botetourt" by J.W & R.H.R. Austin has been a key to finding my ancestors. I have yet to find a connection between the two lines. Other lines researched are the Bragg, Melton, Payne, and Seay families of Fluvanna Co., VA, and the Carter family of Appomattox, and Buckingham County, VA. |
