They are found in the 1850 and 1860 US Censuses of Potsdam. He moved to Morley P.O., Canton, St. Lawrence Co. NY sometime between 1860 and 1870. He is found there in the 1870 and 1880 US Censuses. He lived there the remainder of his life. He died on 16 October 1898.

DEATH: Will of Delevan Delance of Canton, New York, dated 5 March 1884: In the name of God, Amen I, Delevan Delance, being of sound mind & memory do make, publish & declare this to be my last will and testament as follows, to wit. First, I direct my executor herinafter named to pay all my just debts & fueral expenses and to place at my grave a suitable stone, such as my said executor shall deem fit & proper, the debts, expenses & grave stone to paid from my personal property & if there should not be sufficient of my personal property, then I direct my said executor to sell & transfer & convey sufficient of the real estate, which I may leave to meet the same expenses. Second: I having heretofore given unto my four sons, namely John M. Delance, D.D. Delance [NOTE: Delevan Dean Delance], Chandler P. Delance & W. E. Delance [NOTE: William E. Delance], their respective shares of my property and they having received the same do direct my said executor. Thirdly: That my eldest daughter Helen have my two wood lots of which I have made a deed. d. Helen Bullis had her 5 cows in the fall of 1888 [NOTE: This must be an error, since this is dated 5 March 1884.] My daughter Ella [NOTE: This is Sarah Ella Delance] has a deed of the lot formerly given to Chandler the one hundred acres lying between W. E. Delance & Alex Pickert. I deed & bequeath to my four daughters Emma, Jennie, Elizabeth & Carrie E. making them livenly[? perhaps evenly] five acres apiece. Fourthly, I give bequeath & devise all my real estate & personal property of whatever kind or nature, of which I shall died possessed which is not thus disposed of to my six daughter namely, Helen Bullis, Jennie Jackson, Emma Pickert, Elizabeth Weatherhead, Ella Smith & Carrie Delance, to be equally divided amount my six daughters share & share alike. Also. Fifthly: My property of which my wife Eliza W. D. has a lease at her decease is to be shared in like manner to my six daughters. Sixthly: I hereby appoint James Paul, executor of this my last will & testament and hereby revoke all the wills by me before made. BIOGRAPHY: D. Delance were mentioned as trustee of the First Presbyterian Church of Canton in History of St. Lawrence Co., New York, by H. Everets, published in 1878. "The trustees of the society are A. S. Robinson, D. Delance, H. Bullis, M. D. Packard..." Some of the "benevolent work of the church is not forgotten. Religious services are conducted in the poor-house and jail, and a Sabbath-school is conducted in the children's home."
