3. BENJAMIN² SEATON (JAMES¹) was born 1768 in Stafford Co, VA, and died 08 December 1858 in Greene Co, TN. He married (1) MARY ELIZABETH BIRD Abt. 1785, daughter of PHILEMON BIRD and CATHERINE CAMMACK. He married (2) MARY "POLLY" JOHNSON 15 December 1846.

Notes for BENJAMIN SEATON:
Benjamin is listed on a roster of soldiers who served as Rangers on the frontier, 1778-1783,
Fort Ligonier, Westmoreland Co. PA. during the American Revolution, under Capt. Samuel Shannon.
Benjamins' rank is listed as "private".
After his service was completed he moved to Greene Co. TN with his father, sometime before
1791. Around 1785, Benjamin married Mary Elizabeth Bird. He was 22, she ws 20. The 1850
census of Greene Co. shows Benjamin as 82 and Mary as 78. They are both buried on their farm,
called Cedar Grove. He was a farmer all of his life. Blanche Fox of Chattanooga TN. lists a second
marriage for Benjamin. She gives death date of "sometime after 1840" for Mary Bird and gives
15 September 1846 as the date of Benjamin's second marriage to Mary "Polly" Johnson Bird,
widow of John Bird SR.

JOHN³ SEATON, b. 1788, Sevier Co, TN; d. Bet. 1858 - 1860, Madison Co, MS; m. RACHEL JACKSON, 08 August 1817, Madison Co, MS.

John was a noted preacher and went to MS. as a missionary about 1816.
