* Authur / Auther / Arthur (sometimes)*

Updated March 27, 2002

During the mid to late 1800ís, my AUTHUR ancestors lived primarily in Texas (TX) -- mostly around Madisonville (Madison County) and in Bell County. Prior to about 1840, little is known about the family except that the family may have lived in Virginia (VA). Iím told that my great great grandfather may have been a Native American, born in Oklahoma (OK), but I have never been able to prove that linkage.

Marriages were to MASSEY, KIRBY and ROZNOVSKY who also were Texans, but lived in Georgia (GA) and Capiah County Mississippi (MS) as well. Other surnames include VALIGURA, VALYGURA, WALIGURA, and KASPAREK -- from Texas after immigrating from Czechoslovakia.

While AUTHUR is an unusual spelling, there are many listed in the census indexes, telephone books and other reference material. I would appreciate information from any individuals which would help me build my family history. I would be glad to share any information I have on any of the above surnames, although I am just getting started.
