Marion Hughes Aten (b. 20 Dec 1892, d. 10 May 1967)
Notes for Marion Hughes Aten:
Marion was a pilot in the Royal Air Force, one of the members of 47 Squadron who was sent to
Russia to support the White Army during the Russian Revolution. His story is very moving, inspiring and a bit sad. He fell in love with a Russian nurse, they planned to marry and return to El Centro. She died of typhus. Marion, who was decorated by both the British and Russian governments; did return to El Centro where he lived until 1961. He never married. He co-wrote his story shortly before he died, it is "Last Train Over Rostov Bridge".
