There is no doubt that Stephen got his information about Frances and William Hemment from a copy of Thomas Aveling's Will where Thomas calls Frances Hemmant his sister. I bought a copy of Frances Hemmants Will some time ago and found that she called herself a spinster, meaning that Frances and William Hemment were not husband and wife as recorded by Stephen, but the brother and sister of Thomas Aveling's wife Alice Hemmant. I found in the Manor Rolls that Alice was the name of Thomas Aveling's wife. I also found that James had married twice and that Thomas was the son of Ralph Aveling & Elizabeth Kelfull and that he had three older brothers John, James,& Ralph. (See Family Tree). Why Stephen recorded William Aveling as a brother of Thomas is ?? . . . . . .
