Alice Aveling (daughter of Thomas Aveling and Elizabeth Boone) was born 17 June 1750 in St Mary's, Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire, and died July 1789 in Whittlesey, Cambridge, England. She married Simon Smith on 1 January 1771 in St Mary's, Whittlesey, Cambridge, England.

Alice Aveling was bapt at St Mary's on June 7th 1750; married Jan 1st 1771 at St Mary's to Simon, son of Simon and Bridget Smith of Estrea, near Whittlesey. This Simon Smith was a brother of Bridget Smith, wife of Stephen Aveling junr of Eldernell, Whittlesey, Simon Smith who lived at Glassmoor, Whittlesey was a grazier and was successively a business partner, first of his brothers in law, Thomas and Stephen Aveling of Eldernell (This Thomas Aveling later became High Sherriff of cambridgeshire and Huntington in 1802.) and then of John Aveling of Horsegate House and Glassmore, another of his Brothers in law. The contracts for BOTH these partnerships are amongst the family papers. Simon was also executor of John Aveling. His wife died in July 1789 and he died July 13th 1800 aged 53 and they are buried together in one aisle of St Andrew's Church and there is a tablet to them high up on the south side of the church.
