William Jackson Hull (son of Moses Hull) was born 1750 in NJ, and died Jan 1778 in Leonardtown, MD. He married Sarah "Sally" Thornton on 1770.
Notes for William Jackson Hull: William Jackson enlisted as a Private in 1777 for three years and served in the Continental Line of North Carolina, 3rd Regiment. A manuscript volume located in the State of North Carolina, Department of Archives and History, in Volume VIII, page 27, folio 4, states that William Jackson Hull was paid 12 Pounds (about $30) July 1777. He died of illness in January 1778. His widow Sarah (or Sally) is reported to have later married a German soldier.
"Hull Families of the United States" by Rev. William E. Hull, lends conjecture to the origin of this Hull family by stating that William Jackson and two brothers came from Hull, England in 1742, to the coast of New Jersey or Virginia. The Hull family Register has been unable to find support for this "three brothers story" but documents prove strong family ties between the son Jesse and Moses Hull family. Family tradition through the Thomas Hull descendants indicate that there were these three children: Isaac, Jesse and Thomas.
Phyllis J. Hughes, Hull Family Association Genealogist & Journal Editor states, "The Jack Masters book has now been proven wrong as far the the William Jackson Hull line is concerned and was not a line which descended from the Rev. Joseph Hull. He took all of his info from Dave Boatman's Hull Family Register, which also contains this erroneous line.
