Notes for Susanna Annesley: Susanna Annesley was the 25th child of Dr. Annesley and was born to his second wife. She was the mother of John and Charles Wesley, the founders of worldwide Methodism. Fire twice destroyed their home. Politically Samuel and Susanna were both Tories. Susanna bore between seventeen and nineteen Children; ten survived. In her last year, she lived with her son John.

Here lies the body of Mrs. Susannah Wesley, Widow of the Rev. Samuel Wesley, M.A., (late Rector of Epworth, in Lincolnshire,) who died July 23, 1742, Ages 73 years. She was the youngest Daughter of the Rev. Samuel Annesley, D.D., ejected by the Act of Uniformity from the Rectory of St. Giles Cripplegate, Aug. 24, 1662. She was the mother of nineteen children, of whom the most eminent were the Rev. John and Charles Wesley, the former of whom was under God the Founder of the Societies of the People called Methodists.
