In 1777 Marcos Rafael Avitia arrived in Canelas, Durango, Mexico. There he married Ynes de Alamo, and the two of them started a family whose descendants now numbers in the thousands. I have compiled a data base on Family Tree Maker covering 240 years and containing over 22,000 individuals, primarily from Canelas and surrounding towns and ranches (e.g, Valle de Topia, Birimoa, Sianori, Vascogil, Topia, San Juan de Camarones, etc.). In addition to the Avitia family, the other major families in my program are Aizpuro, Alderete, Arrieta, Ayala, Barraza, Barrera, Beltran, Bringas, Cardenas, Carreno, Chaidez, Coronel, Corral, Cruz, Diaz, Felix, Gamboa, Garcia, Gonzalez, Hernandez, Herrera, Jimenez, Landey, Leon, Lopez, Madrid, Mesa, Monarrez, Nevarez, Pena, Quintero, Recio, Rodriguez, Villarreal and Vizcarra. If your family is from Canelas, Durango, there is a very good chance that I already have your family tree. If your surname is also Avitia, please contact me. I have also started to compile family trees of other Avitia families in the hope of one day finding the common ancestor we all share. |
