| I have been working on interconnecting various branches of the early Swiss Bäblers from the Sernftal Valley of Canton Glarus to 20th century Bablers worldwide. The original and today’s Swiss spelling of the family name is Bäbler. On immigration to different countries, the spelling was transformed to Babler, Baebler and even Bebelaar.I am the 11th generation following Meinrad Bäbler born in Elm in about 1538. Meinrad is believed to be a descendent from the original (1400) family in Gams which today is in the Canton of St. Gallen.Sources of key data have been from the 1946 extensive Julius Billeter research as recorded by the Morman Church, from Joseph Müller the Bibliothekar of the Glarus Landesbibliothek, from Missouri birth and death records and other various resources.Below is a sampling of family members spanning from the 1500’s to the mid 1900’s of my family tree. Other Swiss families that married into the Bäbler family include: Baumgartner, Blumer, Disch, Elmer, Kubli, Luchsinger, Marti, Rhyner, Schneider, Speich and Stauffacher. Some Babler branches remaining to be connected are found in: England, Australia, Brazil, and Germany.Another family websites is at: http://www.firm2web.ch/hansbaebler/ Other families that I’m researching and charting are:Descendants of Mathias Ayres, 1770, England,of Jamie Hill, 1772, Va, of John Jeter, 1700s, Va,of Daniel Spencer Norvell, 1813, Va,of Dennis Throp, 1819, Saline Co, Mo.If you have any common information, suggested corrections for my data, or would just like to discuss, I would enjoy a contact.
