My sister Sheri and I have been looking into the Backes History. We have traced it back to Nicholas Backes,senior, and his wife Angeline Schmal. They had 9 children together, one that happens to be my grandfather. We haven't been able to come with anymore on them. We know that they came over from Germany arount the Trier region. If you have any info on them or anyone else in the tree please contact me. There are a lot of other people in my family tree; I just didn't want to load a huge file where it would take a long time to navigate.
