* A Bayly/Baily/Bailey Family Line (Wiltshire Quakers)*

Updated August 15, 2006

This is the Northern Bailey's Family Lines (Joel Baily & Anne Short). They were Wiltshire Quakers, settling Chester County, Pennsylvania with Wm. Penn after 1650.

Particular attention has been paid to the descendents of Joel's G'G'Grandson Gravenor Baily & Elizabeth (??). Gravenor, raised a Quaker, served reluctantly as a Pvt in the Revolutionary War. Afterwrard, he was dis-owned by the Quakers because he had been married to a non-Quaker (Elizabeth) by a Babtist Minister in Boston. He then moved his family 1st) to Delaware, 2nd) to Western Pennsylvania (Crawford County). He participated in the United Brethren Church in Crawford, and is buried in The Anderson Graveyard, Fallowfield Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania
