Nancy McCarty [?] (b. May 06, 1813, d. August 11, 1873)

Nancy McCarty [?] (daughter of Justin McCarty and Mary Unknown) was born May 06, 1813, and died August 11, 1873 in Haysville,Ky. Marion Co. Ky.. She married Harrison Hays on December 12, 1831 in Marion Co. Ky..

Notes for Nancy McCarty [?]:
Continued research is being done on Nancy. My thoughts are that she is not Justin McCarty's daughter, but possibly his neice. My reason's being noted here for future reference:

I more so believe that Nancy is the daughter of Wm. & Polly Hannah Forbis McCarty. [I found somewhere but did not document source info about Nancy's marriage, and it said she was the daughter of Wm. & Polly Hannah Forbis McCarty. Because I didn't document source, I didn't feel I could argue this point...but I know what I found and noted]. My thoughts are that if a man took a wife, he was responsible for her and if he died, his parents took on looking after the son's wife & their children till she remarried or died. So I believe that Wm. was ill and moved from Barren Co. to where his brother [???] Justin lived. Wm ended up dying and Polly & Nancy stayed in Washington Co. staying close to dead husband Wm's. family, with Nancy ending up living with Justin, [or at least being there enough she was included in the census..since Mary Polly d/o Justin has married & gone, Nancy is the new female that shows up in 1820 census in Justin's household]. When Polly Hannah Forbis married Wm. McCarty her name is not listed as Mary Polly Hannah Forbis...only Polly Hannah Forbis. I want to deter the fact that almost every female named Mary is called 'Polly', I think some females were actually named Polly, which I feel is the case of Forbis. So this works when Nancy married Harrison Hays, her parent is listed as Polly McCarty, with Polly using her given name, Justin has died so Nancy's cousin [???] Thomas McCarty is her Bondsman [which turns out to usually always be a family member...Father, Brother, Uncle or Guardian...& I think in this case, Thomas was Nancy's cousin]
