      Hezikah Bailey was on the 1830 census of Richmond County
      Georgia Page No 271 Micro Film reel # M 19 -20 with a son
      Thompson Bailey 10 years old on the 1840 census they was
      not in Georgia But on the 1840-1849 census of Arkansas
      Hezikah was in Scott County Ar with Thompson Bailey 30
      years old I haven't found Hezikah on any 1850 census.
      In the Book of Early Georgia Pioneers       Hezikah in January
      1791 was Appointed Commissioner of roads in Elbert County
      Georgia He Also Was an Officer in the militia June 21 1791
      he Had got Head wrights and Bounty Grants 1790-1795 in
      Grants County Georgia. Wilks County Georgia in 1832 Land
      grants Book uuu Page # 454 that Hezikah was Granted 300
      Acers of land 1791 as Year of the Grant.
      I am sure this is Thompson Bailey Father. i Have found
      On the 1880 Census Scott County Hickman Township A
      Thompson Bailey 60 Years old Born in South Carolina
      Father Born in South Carolina Mother Born in South
      Carolina.

Lewis and Catherine moved to Elbert County, Georgia where they made a deed 19 June
1794 to Hezekiah Bailey for land granted Lewis in Kentucky (Historical Collections of Ga.
D.A.N., Vol III, Elbert Co., page 176). Lewis was a Revolutionary soldier. He was still
living in Elbert Co. Ga. in the land lottery of 1807, but the family seems to have


Hi there, I finally made it to Georgia, however didn't get back to the archives or to
Franklin Co. I did go to the Marietta Library where they have a very extensive General.
section and found a little info..
p 124 deed book B 1793-1795 Elbert Co. Ga. Hezekiah Bailie Purchased 100 acres of
land from Absalom Jackson 25 Feb 1786.

P137 deed book ? Elbert County, GA 10-27-1806, James Bailey and Wife Grace and
Ezekial (Hezekiah) sold land on Vanns Creek.
p115 deed book N 1810-1812, Ezekiel and Rebeccah, his wife, sold land on Vanns
Creek.
p 11 deed book O 1812-1813, 2-13-1812 Ezekiel and wife Rebeccah, to Julian Bailey of
Morgan Co. Ga. 1000 acres $500.00. on Vanns Creek.
Looks like Hezekiah Bailie might be your ancestor that came to Georgia and that he
changed his name to Ezekiel Bailey along the way. Perhaps you can find something back
up the line from that.
also found that Thompson Bailey was in Scott Co. in 1850. But he was in Hot Spring
County, AR in the same census location as Oliver Hazard Perry Norwood in 1860. and he
was not there in the 1870 Hot Spring census. Delilah Bailey shows up in Dallas Co. AR
in 1870 but I haven't gotten a copy of the census...
